Tony Cascarino has told The Times that Mauricio Pochettino will leave Tottenham Hotspur if Spurs suffer defeat to Watford next time out, following a dismal week at the north London club.
It has been a poor start to the season for Spurs. Just three Premier League wins from nine outings, suffering defeat in the League Cup to fourth-tier side Colchester United, and one point from two Champions League matches.
Last week, Spurs conceded 10 goals in two games. Seven flew past Hugo Lloris against Bayern Munich, before the French captain dislocated his elbow when conceding the first against Brighton on Saturday. Brighton went on to win 3-0.
Cascarino reckons Pochettino – who has a contract worth £163,000 a week until the summer of 2023 (Guardian) – will leave Tottenham after the international break if Spurs lose to Watford on October 19 – meaning Pochettino may leave in less than two weeks.

“The signs for Tottenham Hotspur are alarming,” Cascarino said. “The team are getting worse, they are noticeably poorer than two years ago. Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, Dele Alli — none of them are at the level they were.
“Pochettino’s record entitles him to a fair crack at turning things around but I am sceptical as to whether he can. If they lose to Watford in their next game after the international break, he is finished. He is under pressure and making poor decisions.”
TBR’s view – Will Daniel Levy really sack Pochettino?
The Argentine has been sensational for Spurs. Since joining from Southampton in 2014, he has made Spurs an established top-four side, rivalling for the Premier League title and reaching the Champions League semi-final last term.
But right now, there are political problems behind the scenes. Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are out of contract, players have stopped running, their famous press has completely evaporated.
Pochettino is floundering. Strange formations, substitutions and playing players out of position are the manager’s fault. Yes, the players need to take responsibility. But Pochettino is not coping with the pressure. So, yes, Levy could sack Pochettino.
