Tony Cascarino has claimed in The Times that Liverpool forward Mo Salah is in the same bracket as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The former top-flight talisman has been discussing the talisman after his sensational goal against Manchester City yesterday.

Salah was mesmeric as Liverpool continued their recent good form. City were a match for them, however, earning a point from an entertaining clash.

The 29-year-old has been in fine form during 2021/22. He has found the net nine times and registered three assists from nine appearances.

He has earned vast praise and Cascarino is the latest pundit to rank him in terms of his quality.

The ex-international believes there aren’t too many players currently playing at the same level as the Egyptian.

He told The Times: “Salah demonstrated once again that there is no player quite like him against Manchester City. Even when he’s not playing well, he gets chances and is able to score goals.

“Last week we saw Cristiano Ronaldo and Lione Messi doing what they are renowned for in the Champions League, but why is Salah not mentioned in the same bracket?

“Salah’s goalscoring numbers are extraordinary but his work rate is even more impressive.”

Salah can register name among all-time Liverpool greats

Cascarino is right about Salah. He is an exceptional player and will go down as one of Liverpool’s best signings in recent years.

In 212 appearances he has found the net 134 times and registered 50 assists.

Salah has an unbelievable amount of matchwinning experience and he’s very much Liverpool’s main man at the moment.

In terms of being close to Messi and Ronaldo, right now he is very much playing at a similar level.

The one difference, however, is that those players have produced the goods throughout their careers. Salah, however, was more of a late bloomer.

Now, the Liverpool star is very much a man in form though and if he maintains it, the Reds could go close to winning the title this season.
