Arsenal legend Tony Adams has suggested to Stadium Astro that the club didn’t really need to sign Martin Odegaard. He has also stuck the boot into the club once again over the additions of Nicolas Pepe and Willian.
The former centre-back is an outspoken character these days and clearly, something has got his back up regarding the football club.
Odegaard checked in at the Emirates Stadium during the January transfer window and the £85,000-a-week player made his first start against Leeds on Sunday.

Arsenal won that game 4-2 to claim an important three points against a team who have proven their quality on several occasions during the 2020/21 campaign.
Adams thinks the Gunners missed a trick by prioritising Odegaard’s signature over another area of the squad – which he feels is a more pressing concern.
He told Stadium Astro: “To be honest, there’s an argument that you don’t need Martin Odegaard.
“I get so annoyed that we bought Pepe and Willian in when you’ve got two kids in Smith Rowe and Saka bursting into the team.
“There are other areas in the team you could look at, there are holes in the team, we saw how fragile they are defensively. The defence has always been the weak link.
“As the sporting director of Arsenal, you wouldn’t get Odegaard in, you’d be getting good, strong defenders into the team instead.”
TBR View: Adams comments are harsh on Odegaard
Prior to Emile Smith Rowe’s emergence, Arsenal critics suggested that Mikel Arteta’s squad was lacking creativity.
He addressed that by adding Odegaard to compete with Smith Rowe for a place in the team.

Adams suggested there are problems at the back aren’t too wide of the mark but it was unlikely they’d sign a defender in January.
Rob Holding, Gabriel, David Luiz and Pablo Mari are all in place at the Emirates, with Arsenal boasting plenty of options.
Something about the football club has clearly upset Adams and now Odegaard will surely hope to prove him wrong between now and the end of the campaign.
