Tony Adams has told Premier League Productions that he is desperate for “that mob” Tottenham Hotspur to fail in their pursuit of the Premier League title this season – but has stated he is concerned for Liverpool, despite a 4-0 win over Wolves.
All those involved in an early title race picked up three points over the weekend. Both Manchester clubs, Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Leicester all recorded victories – though Tottenham’s is arguably the most impressive, beating Arsenal.
A classic Jose Mourinho style win was played out in front of 2000 fans at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, as Harry Kane and Son Heung-min scored two excellent goals. Kane has now had a hand in 26 goals during his 17 appearances.
Arsenal legend Adams has stated that he is worried Tottenham could win the Premier League title – but has underlined his concerns over Liverpool in their bid to retain the trophy, despite Sunday’s convincing win over Wolves at Anfield.

“They [Liverpool] have got a fantastic squad, and they will be there or thereabouts,” Adams said. “Man City will come, I’ve got a horrible, horrible feeling that Spurs are going to be up there as well.
There is something about retaining a title. I never got the chance, but they haven’t got van Dijk and I’ve seen enough of Liverpool to be say they might not win it – some performances are worrying. I hope they do do it, and it’s not that mob [Tottenham].”
TBR’s view – Can Tottenham really pip Liverpool to title?
Judged on the 11 games that have been played so far, Tottenham look as though they have the best defence in the Premier League – but the quality to hurt their opponents on the counter. Not only that, but they can adapt their style, too.
Against West Brom, they needed a winner and had to come out looking for one. They went much more attacking and Kane nodded home. Against Arsenal, they allowed the Gunners to come onto them – and picked them off.
Liverpool look good. The Reds continue to get results even without van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Thiago. But those injuries may hurt Liverpool later in the season – while Spurs continue to shine. Manchester City are also coming good after a slow start.
