Arsenal v Tottenham: Video shows Tomiyasu already winding Richarlison up on the bench
Arsenal came out on top in the NLD against Tottenham today and continued their march clear at the top of the Premier League table.
The Gunners had goals from Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka – as well as Hugo Lloris – to thank for the win. It was comfortable enough in the end too, despite Spurs attempting to rally in the second half a bit.
Of course, one of the big talking points was the behaviour after the final whistle. A Tottenham fan was spotted kicking Aaron Ramsdale in disgraceful scenes.
Naturally, Tottenham’s Richarlison wasn’t far from the action. He was arguing with and pushing Ramsdale before the fan altercation. The Brazilian is known for his fiery temper. And that temper was already on display before he even entered the field of play.
In a video shared on Twitter by the @AFCStuff account, Richarlison can be seen losing his rag a bit as Takehiro Tomiyasu put an arm across him to stop the Brazilian interrupting an Arsenal throw-in. Richarlison seems to be upset by Tomiyasu touching him and angrily confronts the Japanese defender.
In the end, it mattered little how wound up Richarlison got. Spurs fans will argue that he at least showed some passion. But at the same time, he’s also showing just how easy he is to agitate.
TBR’s View: Richarlison needs to step up for Spurs now he’s back
He has been a big miss for Tottenham recently and it’s nice to see he has some fight in him as well. But above all, Richarlison needs to step up on the field now for Spurs.
He needs game time and with that he needs to score goals. This is a Spurs side who look lost at the moment and they need their big players to produce.
Richarlison can do it. And he might even prove a catalyst for Tottenham to change their fortunes.
