Tomasz Kuszczak suggests if Manchester United player could join Everton, he would

Tomasz Kuszczak has told Stadium Astro that if Sergio Romero has the chance to join Everton – after entering the last six months of his contract at Manchester United – then he would jump at the chance to swap Old Trafford for Goodison Park.

Romero, 33, is set to leave Manchester United in the summer with the 96-time Argentina international’s contract expiring at the end of June. This season, he has slipped to third-choice stopper, behind Dean Henderson and David De Gea.

Having joined United in the summer of 2015, he has played 61 games for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side – conceding just 27 goals and keeping a huge 39 clean sheets. However, many have been in Europa League or in the Cups against lesser opposition.

Romero saw a move to Everton fall through last summer (Goal) and Kuszczak responded when asked if Romero should consider a move to Everton in the coming months – suggesting that if such a move was on the cards, he would take it.

“He needs to make a decision on what to do with his career. I’m sure if he can go to Everton, he would do it. But there must be something we don’t know that is on the way. Everton need to bring someone in for competition,” Kuszczak said.

TBR’s view – Do Everton need Romero?

The Toffees have since signed Robin Olsen, Sweden’s number one, on loan from Roma. He has impressed when given the chance, producing a magical performance against Leeds of late. There is a permanent clause in his loan deal.

If Everton sign Olsen, then Romero is hardly needed at Everton – but if Roma want to keep Olsen, then Romero would be a good addition to Ancelotti’s side. Time will tell, depending on the future of Olsen.
