Tomas Soucek makes Leeds claim ahead of West Ham clash

Tomas Soucek has suggested to West Ham United’s official website that the Hammers are going to need to replicate the display that saw them beat Tottenham if they hope to get the better of Leeds on Monday.

David Moyes’s men host the Whites at the London Stadium next week. And they will be hoping to get back to winning ways after tasting defeat at Manchester City last time out.

The Irons will have their sights set on strengthening their grip or regaining fourth spot in the Premier League. But they are clearly not expecting an easy game.

Leeds have proved that they can take the game to anyone in the league this season. And Soucek – who scored when the sides met at Elland Road earlier this campaign – suggested that the Hammers will need a big display to get the three points once again.

“We’re still in a great position, which is really good, so we’re still enjoying our time but we need to be prepared for the next game because this game will again show us how good we are,” the £19 million signing told the club’s official website (fee reported by BBC Sport).

“I could compare this game to the game against Tottenham, when we were in this position and we beat Tottenham, so if we do a similar performance and get a win against Leeds, we will be in a great moment and a great position ahead of our games in the future.”

Marcelo Bielsa’s side will feel that they have a point to prove. Not only did they lose the previous meeting, but they also go into the fixture off the back of a loss.

Their 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa arguably saw one of their most disappointing performances of the campaign. So they would love to make amends while also ending their poor run in the capital.
