Everton star Tom Davies sent a message to Marco Silva on Monday night by putting in a fine performance for England’s U21s against Kosovo.
The 21-year-old stood out alongside Manchester City starlet Phil Foden, and may have given his club manager something to think about going forwards.
Davies was operating as a deep-lying midfielder, and retained the ball superbly for the Young Lions.

It was the kind of performance that Davies really needed, having had to contend with a place on the bench at Everton a lot lately.
This season he has gotten just 11 minutes of game time, and last season he struggled to get in the team ahead of Andre Gomes and Idrissa Gueye.
With the signing of Fabian Delph, Davies has things tough once more, but perhaps there could be one opening for the youngster after his display for England.
TBR’s view
Maybe the questionable form of Gylfi Sigurdsson will be Davies’ best bet of returning to the Everton starting XI.

The £100,000-a-week Iceland international (Spotrac) recently admitted he hasn’t been at his best (Liverpool Echo), and perhaps he could be vulnerable to the chop from Silva.
It would be a big call from the Portuguese with Sigurdsson’s qualities well known, but Fabian Delph and Gomes are both in better form and don’t deserve to be dropped.
Perhaps the manager could give Davies his long-awaited chance, by deploying him next to Delph and moving Gomes into Sigurdsson’s usual number 10 role. Or even thrusting Davies in himself as the advanced midfielder.
