Preston North End attacker Tom Barkhuizen has been commenting on the 1-1 draw with Leeds United yesterday and was signing the praises of the West Yorkshire side.
Barkhuizen scored the opening goal of the game against the run of play as Preston caught Leeds out on the counter-attack at Deepdale.
Leeds eventually equalised through substitute Eddie Nketiah’s looping header and both teams are still in strong league positions in the Championship.

Preston’s strong start to the season has been a surprise to many but it seems the Lancashire club could be in with a shout of winning promotion. Speaking to the club’s official website, Barkhuizen suggested that if they manage to finish above Leeds this season, that is the likely outcome.
“I think we spoke in the dressing room after the game and if you finish above them this season, you’ll probably go up.
“We know they’re a really good team and the manager’s come in over the last couple of years and has got them playing a really good way of football and it’s tough to defend against.”
TBR’s View
There is no doubt that Leeds United are many a neutrals top pick for promotion this season so Barkhuizen is right to aim above Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
Indeed, it is actually proving to be a wide-open start to the new campaign, with the likes of West Brom, Fulham, Swansea, Sheffield Wednesday and QPR also looking strong.
Leeds will need to make sure they start winning games like this if they are to finish above all the aforementioned clubs and secure their long-awaited return to the Premier League.
But Preston, along with the others, will not be going away lightly.
