Danny Ings has told Aston Villa’s official website that he can’t wait to link up with Ollie Watkins at Villa Park.
New strike duo?
Ings shocked everyone earlier this week when he signed for Villa.
There had been very little rumours suggesting that Villa were making a move for the Southampton front man.
But Ings quickly became a claret and blues player and when he was asked who he is most looking forward to linking up with at Villa Park, the England international said: “I’m looking forward to working with everybody really but I think the obvious one is obviously Ollie, he had a fantastic season last year.
“He works extremely hard off the ball like I do as well, I think together we can work really well and score some goals.”
Replacing Grealish
Ings answer may well have been different if Jack Grealish had stayed at Villa.
However, the playmaker joined Manchester City yesterday and Christian Purslow has already confirmed that Ings is part of Villa’s plan to replace their former captain.

Villa have also brought in Emiliano Buendia and Leon Bailey, and they hope that the three can all cover for Grealish’s departure.
Ings certainly should increase Villa’s attacking threat, as he is a proven Premier League goalscorer.
But it will require Smith to change systems if he is to get both Watkins and Ings playing together.
