Journalist Fabrizio Romano has tweeted an update on the protracted move of Lucas Paqueta to West Ham United.

The Hammers have been in negotiations to sign the Brazilian international and they look set to continue today (Friday).

Last night’s negotiations ended with a late night call, which Romano says went positively, which is a strong sign for the Irons ahead of today.

It seems that personal terms are agreed but Lyon, who West Ham beat in last season’s Europa League, are proving harder to deal with.

Obviously, they are going to want as much money as they can possibly get to let one of their top talents leave the club.

That is especially the case as the days tick down and limit the Ligue 1 club’s ability to replace him before the transfer window slams shut.

Paqueta’s agents have been in London for a number of days now as they wait on standby for Lyon to get a bid that they find acceptable.

It has been reported that Tottenham retain an interest in the playmaker, but West Ham are currently the club by far showing the most interest.

Newcastle have also been credited with an interest and Paqueta has a great relationship with Toon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

He used to play for Lyon and of course is an international teammate of Paqueta, and it will be interesting to see how this develops if an offer goes in which is accepted.
