Tite reacts to rumours he’s in talks to join Arsenal

Tite has insisted that reports claiming that he is in talks to join Arsenal are completely wide of the mark – in comments reported by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

You would imagine that Tite’s sole focus is on the 2022 World Cup. Brazil have already booked their spot in Qatar. And they will be amongst the favourites to go on and win the tournament.

Selecao have won 13 and drawn three of their 16 qualifiers so far. And they find themselves four points clear of Argentina.

Of course, Brazil may be driven by the disappointment of not winning last summer’s Copa America. And for Tite, the World Cup may be particularly significant.

The 60-year-old is set to be out of contract after the tournament. And interestingly, it had appeared that he was already preparing to make his next move.

Journalist Eric Faria recently told ESPN (via Daily Mirror) that Tite was in talks with Edu about heading to Arsenal after the World Cup.

However, Tite has made it pretty clear that there is nothing in the reports. He even went as far as to apologise to Arsenal for the speculation.

“About the information given during the broadcast of the Globo network, my feeling is very sad and I get sad because information is passed on to the public that is a lie,” he said, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

“I apologise to Arsenal, but that information did not come from us and there is absolutely nothing.”

Arsenal fans may not be surprised by Tite comments

Mikel Arteta’s stock is arguably higher than it has ever been since taking over at Arsenal. He has taken the Gunners onto pole position in the race to finish in the top-four.

So the links with Tite will have taken many by surprise. Perhaps the role the Brazilian was supposed to be in line for was not in the dug-out. But clearly, it would have been bizarre had Arsenal replaced Arteta with Tite.

Obviously, it is not a subject Gunners fans need to concern themselves with any longer.
