Timo Werner suggests every player would think about moving to Liverpool

Timo Werner has told German publication Kicker that every player in the world would probably think about joining Liverpool.

The German striker has been linked with moves to Anfield and to Chelsea (Bild) and the summer could see some firm bids from the Premier League.

Werner has been in fine form this season. The 23-year-old has scored 25 goals and registered 10 assists in 28 matches.

The RB Leipzig ace has played 29 times for the German national team, scoring 11 goals.

He has a £50 million release clause in his contract, according to Bild, and Liverpool is the player’s preferred destination.

Werner has recently been quizzed about potentially lining-up for Liverpool and he suggested that he’d be silly not to consider it.

He told Kicker: “What do you say if a club comes knocking in the next two weeks, a club which is one of the favourites for the Champions League and makes an incredible offer? Most likely every player would think about it.”

The ex-Stuttgart performer has 86 Leipzig goals to his name in 142 appearances.

For now, he does concede that any plans for the future are firmly at the back of his mind.

His current club are in the mix to win the title and are just a point adrift of Bayern Munich in second place.

He continued: “When you score 20 goals as a 23-year-old in a season then, of course, there is interest. That’s clear.

“But, right now, I am not thinking about what happens in the future.

“We are going into many important games. That’s what my focus is on now. I can still contemplate my future later.”

TBR View – Werner could be game-changing signing for Liverpool

It’s fair to say that if the Reds were to sign Werner during the summer months, it’d be an eye-catching signing.

His goal ration in the Bundesliga over the last few seasons has been remarkable.

Who he would replace would be an interesting one. Liverpool would perhaps have to adapt their style somewhat to suit Werner’s style of play.

Having a player who is such a natural finisher would be ideal for Klopp though and his arrival could pretty much complete his dominant squad.
