Timo Werner believes his Tottenham Hotspur teammates are beginning to understand his game ‘better’ after his January switch from RB Leipzig.
The German forward netted his first Tottenham goal on Saturday as Ange Postecoglou’s men picked up a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Despite a missed opportunity in the first half, it was arguably the best we’ve seen of Timo Werner in a Spurs shirt so far.
The Spurs loanee constantly aimed to beat his man down the left-hand side, particularly in the second half, and took his goal well.
And while speaking to Spurs Play after yesterday’s victory, Werner claimed he is starting to strike up better understandings with players like Destiny Udogie, James Maddison, Heung-min Son and Richarlison.

Werner shares the four Tottenham players he’s enjoying playing alongside
Speaking after his first goal for Tottenham, Werner was asked if he believes his teammates are beginning to understand his game.
“I think so,” he responded. “I think it gets even better. Also, the link-up with Destiny on the left side gets better and better.
“Also with Maddison the 10, I think he is looking for me. I think Sonny is a different player in central than Richy is, so also the link with both of them gets better and better.”

While Werner can lack composure in the final third, he makes some exceptional runs off the left-hand side.
He was unfortunate not to open the scoring yesterday after racing through on goal following an excellent ball from Son.
You can see that Tottenham’s players are beginning to pick up his runs more often and that should lead to more opportunities for the 27-year-old.
Werner has his obvious limitations when it comes to finishing. But he’s proving to be a useful option for Postecoglou.
Brennan Johnson did come off the bench and make a huge impact yesterday though as the 22-year-old grabbed two assists.
With a crucial clash against Aston Villa next, it will be interesting to see if Werner keeps his place in the side over the Welshman.
