Timothy Weah has sent a three-word Instagram message to Celtic after his Lille side came from two goals down to draw 2-2 in Thursday night’s Europa League clash in France – and the Hoops have responded.
Weah, 20, has joined Lille on a permanent basis from Paris Saint-Germain after the United States international went on loan to Celtic during the second half of the 2018-19 season. He played 17 times for Celtic during that period, scoring four times.
It convinced Lille to move. He has played just six times for PSG – scoring only two goals – but Lille chose to spend £9million (Goal) to sign him. Injuries have limited him to just nine appearances, one of which came against Celtic on Thursday.
Weah came on for the last 10 minutes in a match that saw Mo Elyounoussi open the scoring after Albian Ajeti won the ball back. Driving forward, he curled an exquisite effort around Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
Jeremie Frimpong’s bursting run down the right found Elyounoussi and the Norway international’s stunning finish made it two. Zeki Celik and Jonathan Ikone netted in the second half to return level – while Jonathan David missed a first-half penalty.
Weah failed to find a winner for Lille but he replied to a post by Celtic on Instagram, commenting a three-word message of “Love you always”. Celtic responded, replying: “Once a Bhoy, always a Bhoy.”
