Timo Weah has told his pre-match press conference ahead of Celtic’s Europa League dead-rubber with Lille on Thursday that he is confident the Scottish champions will retain their crown – despite a 13-point Rangers lead.
Celtic play host to Weah’s Lille at Parkhead, but have already been knocked out of the Europa League following heavy defeats to AC Milan and Sparta Prague. Neil Lennon’s future, though, remains in doubt.
It means there is still plenty to play for on Thursday night – though the Hoops will now be focusing on the league and their pursuit of 10 in a row. However, the title race certainly seems to be in Rangers favour given the Gers lead.
Steven Gerrard’s men sit 13 points clear at the top and remain unbeaten, while Celtic have won just two of their last 12 league and cup games. But Weah is confident his old side will come back and pip Rangers to the title.

“I feel they are going to do it and I hope they do because, having been a player there, I’d love to see them do 10 in a row,” Weah said, as per Glasgow Live. “Each team has their ups and downs, this is a down for Celtic at this moment.
“I know the guys, they are 100 per cent fighters. They are warriors over there, so I know they are going to get back on track. I feel it’s going to take time but they are going to do it, it’s going to happen.”
TBR’s view – Can Celtic really claw back Rangers?
If they are going to, they needs to start soon. Lennon has somehow held onto his job and now the board have backed him, he needs to get some points on the board. Yes, Celtic have two games in hand.
And yes, Celtic have three Old Firm derbies in the league before the end of the season. But do Rangers look like dropping points at the moment? Absolutely not. Do Celtic? Without a shadow of doubt.
Celtic need a complete turnaround in fortunes before the turn of the year, or Rangers will win 55.
