Rangers manager Steven Gerrard surely has to start Umar Sadiq against Ayr United in the Scottish League Cup.
The loan signing from AS Roma has barely had a sniff this season since joining the club.

He has only made one appearance so far this season – as a second half substitute against St. Mirren back in August.
He only got 13 minutes and was unable to make any kind of impact.
Sadiq has a fair amount of competition at Ibrox at present, with Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty both ahead of him in the pecking order. Youngster Glenn Middleton has also limited his potential playing time.
With Morelos and Lafferty both scoring goals, it looks like it could be a tough season for the Nigerian.

But Gerrard must hand the young man some game time where he can – or risk destroying the player’s confidence.
Gerrard must play Sadiq againt Ayr
Rangers take on Ayr in the Scottish League Cup quarter-final on Wednesday, and it’s the perfect opportunity for Sadiq to get the ball rolling.
Perhaps Gerrard knows something nobody else does which is why he has hardly featured.
But on the face of it, it would make sense for Sadiq to start against Ayr.

Rangers should have enough quality to get through the tie.
If Sadiq is left on the bench again, then it could ruin the player’s loan move.
Coming from Serie A giants Roma, he would have expected more game time at this point.
