Tim Sherwood has claimed that Tottenham’s exit-linked defender Danny Rose is better than counterpart Ben Davies.
Rose, 30, has not been given an official squad number this season and is being heavily linked with a departure from the North London outfit this summer.
The Mirror reports that Italian club Genoa are in advanced talks for the left-back and that he’s expected to leave during the current transfer window.
Meanwhile, Le10 Sport has claimed that Premier League duo Aston Villa and West Ham are also keen on trying to sign him.
Spurs manager Jose Mourinho decided to stick with Davies in the second half of last season at left-back, allowing Rose to be loaned out to Newcastle United.
He’s been cast out to the fringes of the squad by the Portuguese manager who has stuck with 27-year-old Davies, who started in the Premier League opener this season during the defeat to Everton.
Ex-Spurs boss Sherwood believes that Mourinho is wrong in his opinion and feels Rose is the better option ahead of Davies.
“Defensively I’m still unsure and Jose is unsure. The best left-back they have at the club no longer has a number, a squad number,” Sherwood said, as quoted by Football Daily.
“Danny Rose is the best left-back Tottenham have. He’s better than Ben Davies. Ben Davies can play left-side of a three if Jose wants to go that route.”
The left-back position certainly is an area that Mourinho needs to try fix and it looks like he’s about to solve that issue with a top-class signing.
Spanish publication Marca reports that Spurs have secured a deal to sign Real Madrid full-back Sergio Reguilon for £27.5million and he only needs to complete a medical.
The 23-year-old left-back was brilliant last season during a loan with Sevilla and the speedster looks like he could be a brilliant addition to the Premier League.
