Kai Havertz had perhaps his best game in an Arsenal shirt against Newcastle this weekend.
The German scored a goal and played a key part in Bukayo Saka’s strike too in what was an all-round solid performance.
However, as always, there are still some questions being asked about Havertz’s ability.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Tim Sherwood has been discussing the Arsenal ace, and he says that he’s still not a huge fan.
Sherwood stated that Havertz is a luxury player who can do brilliant things sometimes, but on a week-to-week basis, he gives the team nothing out of possession and he’s often anonymous in games.

Kai Havertz offers nothing out of possession
Sherwood shared his thoughts on the German.
“I think Mikel thinks he’s very versatile and flexible. I agree that he is a luxury. He gives you nothing out of possession. He’s a good size, he doesn’t play like he’s good in the air. Wonderful touch, good vision, he’s a big game player, he scored in a Champions League final for Chelsea. He’s anonymous in the game but he pops up with big goals, and I think Mikel is hoping he pops up with big goals in the business end of the season for him,” Sherwood said.
Harsh, but true
It’s very harsh to go after Havertz after what was a very good performance against Newcastle, but, at the same time, we can see where Sherwood is coming from here.
Havertz did play well against Newcastle, but he didn’t exactly take the game by the scruff of the neck, did he?
He did his job well and contributed to the attack, but he wasn’t exactly putting in a ten out of ten performance in every area.
In games that Arsenal dominate, Havertz can be brilliant, but when their backs are against the wall, he can often go missing.
