Tim Sherwood says £72m Man Utd player is basically useless at this point

Manchester United slumped to yet another defeat on Friday evening as they were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea.

If it weren’t for Tottenham also losing to Aston Villa, United would be 17th in the Premier League table right now.

The Red Devils have some serious problems, Ruben Amorim has been questioned recently, and some of the club’s players just aren’t good enough.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Tim Sherwood has singled out Rasmus Hojlund for criticism.

Indeed, Sherwood says United look like they’re playing with 10 men when Hojlund is on the pitch, claiming that he’s simply not the answer to United’s attacking problems.

Tim Sherwood slams Rasmus Hojlund

Sherwood shared his verdict on Hojlund, claiming that he’s pretty much useless at this point.

The pundit says that United are basically playing with 10 men when the £72m man is on the pitch, and it’s hard to disagree.

“I think they’re playing without a centre-forward at the moment. I think he needs to find a solution. Hojlund is not the answer. The ball kept breaking down off him, he wasn’t getting in dangerous positions to score goals. Yes, there’s not a lot of service coming into him, but he has to do better. It’s far too easy, so they’re playing with a man down at the moment, so he needs to find a solution to that number nine position,” Sherwood said.

Rasmus Hojlund stats vs Chelsea

This isn’t the first time Hojlund has been criticised, but this performance against Chelsea was truly abject.

Indeed, as the stats show, the Manchester United striker was poor at Stamford Bridge.

No shots, no key passes, the fewest touches of any United player who started, this was an awful performance from Hojlund.

As Sherwood says, United need to find a solution in the attack, and luckily, help could be on the way.

Liam Delap has been linked to United, and whether or not he’s the answer to the Red Devils’ prayers, it’s fair to say he’d be an upgrade on Hojlund and what he’s producing at the moment.
