Tim Sherwood has told TalkSPORT that there is no way that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy will sack Mauricio Pochettino, and that the Argentine will only leave if he himself walks.
There have been suggestions that Pochettino could be facing the sack after another dismal week at Tottenham, in which the north Londoners conceded 10 goals in two games against Bayern Munich and Brighton.
Following a 7-2 loss to the German champions, Spurs travelled south to take on Brighton in a match they were expected to win. But after an early injury to Hugo Lloris, Spurs suffered a 3-0 defeat to Graham Potter’s side.
Pochettino has now managed just three wins all season, in 12 league and cup outings. The pressure is certainly being ramped up on the Argentine, but Sherwood does not believe Levy would ever sack Pochettino – who first joined way back in 2014.

“Daniel Levy is one of the most astute men in football,” Sherwood said. “Do you think, in his right mind, would sack Mauricio Pochettino? He’s got so much credit in the bank for that football club. There is no way he will sack Pochettino.
“Not in a million years. I still think he is the man for the job. I don’t want to see him leave, I love the guy and I love the football club. I still think they’ll reach the knockout stages of the Champions League, and the top four of the Premier League.”
TBR’s view – Does Pochettino deserve the sack?
Sherwood is spot on. Pochettino will not be sacked by the club and if the Argentine leaves, it will be on his own accord. His previous five seasons have earned him enormous respect, at board level and with fans. It looks as though he will stay.
However, does he deserve to go? Pundits claim it has gone stale, for Pochettino at Spurs. His players are no longer pressing, Pochettino is playing players out of position, and the dressing room seems an unsavoury place at the moment.
His substitutions, rotation policy and constantly changing system has come under the spotlight. Pochettino does need to be performing better as manager of the club – but he does not deserve the sack.
