Tim Sherwood claims Liverpool have a player who’s so fit it’s unreal

Liverpool beat Arsenal 1-0 at the weekend, and there was one standout performance on the day.

Indeed, Dominik Szoboszlai was excellent for the Reds on Sunday, earning all sorts of praise from fans and pundits alike.

The Hungarian was filling in at right-back on the day, and he managed to keep Gabriel Martinelli quiet, while he also fired in the winning goal with a stunning free-kick from 30 yards.

Speaking on Generation xG, Tim Sherwood has been discussing Szoboszlai’s performance vs Arsenal, and he says that the Hungarian is someone he would hate to play against on account of how physically fit he is.

Dominik Szoboszlai praised for his fitness

Sherwood spoke about the Liverpool star and how good he is.

The pundit says the Hungarian is so fit he has lungs like a deep-sea diver, noting that he’s non-stop as a player.

In fact, Sherwood says Szoboszlai could play in every single position for Liverpool if he needed to.

“He’s reliable, he will do his job. He’s got lungs like a deep sea diver, for me, he just keeps going. He’s absolutely non-stop. I would not want to play against this kid, he would run me into the ground, whether he’s right-back or midfield, he knows the job and he’s not worried about it,” Sherwood said.

“He could play anywhere on that pitch and he knows what job he needs to do.”

Dominik Szoboszlai has dominated Liverpool fitness tests

Szoboszlai is incredibly fit, as Sherwood says, and the data at Liverpool backs it up.

Indeed, two years ago, Szoboszlai dominated the Reds’ pre-season fitness tests, as Neil Jones relayed at the time.

“Dominik Szoboszlai looks like he can run for days. The Hungarian had seen off Luis Díaz and Cody Gakpo in his first fitness challenge on Merseyside. 20.2 is, I’m told, a serious score for a lactate test. In Szoboszlai, Liverpool look like they’ve bought a hell of an athlete, as well as a supremely-talented footballer,” Jones wrote.

Szoboszlai is a freak of an athlete, and while he may find it difficult to get minutes in the midfield at Liverpool this season, he could well find a new permanent home at right-back.
