Everton were hammered on home soil yesterday as Watford rolled into Goodison Park and walked out with three points and a 5-2 win to hand Claudio Ranieri his first win as boss.
Joshua King came back to haunt his former club with a hat-trick of goals and in the end, Watford did make light work of an out of sorts Everton side.

For Rafa Benitez – who seemed perplexed at the performance – there is now a lot of work to do. Among fans, too, a couple of bad results will quickly see them turn against the former Liverpool manager.
And watching from afar, former midfielder Tim Cahill was also at a loss with Everton’s performance. Indeed, the Australian took to Twitter to share his thoughts, and accused the team of giving up.
Everton conceded four goals in the final 12 minutes. As soon as Juraj Kucka got the equalising goal, the Toffees seemed to dip their heads.
Benitez, then, will have his work cut out to turn things around here.
TBR’s View: Cahill makes a valid point about Everton against Watford
In fairness to Cahill, he was never one for giving in. He played in an Everton team renowned for being dogged and determined, and this will have disappointed him a lot.
Everton did crumble. In fact, some of the play in the final 10 minutes was bordering on criminal. It simply has to be better, especially for a team that had started so much better under Benitez.
The Spanish manager needs work and time on the training ground you feel with this Everton squad. Only then, can we really judge just where this Toffees side is at.
