Liverpool’s summer transfer window has already been a busy one, with five new faces already arriving on Merseyside as they look to dramatically improve on a disappointing eighth place finish in the Premier League last campaign.
Marko Grujic, Joel Matip, Loris Karius, Sadio Mane and Ragnar Klavan have already been added to the squad, and it looks as if the recruitment drive is set to continue, with the signing of Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle United imminent.
The fee is expected to reach around £25 million with add-ons, which is both a reflection of both Wijnaldum’s technical prowess and also the inflated nature of the Premier League transfer window this season. Questions have been asked of Wijnaldum’s willingness to scrap and fight for the team, but his ability to unlock tricky defenses lead to an impressive 11 goals and five assists in his debut season in England.
It is not yet clear how Jurgen Klopp wishes to utilise Wijnaldum, but his versatility and ability to play in a number of positions across the midfield, which gives the manager a lot of exciting options of how to utilise his new signing. Here are three ways that the popular Anfield boss could set his team out to accommodate his new Dutch charge.
