A new club for Mario Balotelli!
It is clear that the Italian striker’s career at Anfield is over, and so resolving his future is arguably just as important as making the right choice for who should be brought in. Left to train with the under-21s whilst the first team jet off to the US for pre-season, and reportedly told that he should find another club, there is no chance of a revival for Balotelli.
With a side taking shape after Jurgen Klopp has made additions in goal, defence, midfield and upfront, cutting the dead-wood is the next step. Shipping out Balotelli; and some could say Christian Benteke, will reduce the wage bill and allow bigger and better signings to be made if needed in January or next summer.
In Danny Ings, Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and possibly Christian Benteke, there are plenty of high quality options when Klopp looks to choose the man to be the lone striker in his system.
With the likes of Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane also capable of playing up top, and some talented youngsters like Dan Woodburn shining in pre-season, there is simply no incentive to keep Balotelli at the club, and a suitor should be found as soon as possible…although that is proving easier said than done.
