Connor Ogilvie
Ogilvie is a left-back by trade, but his versatility along the backline could well mean he is given some first team minutes this season. He is one of only a few Spurs players in the under-23 squad that have played anything other than youth football, after his spell with Stevenage in 2015/16, and this experience is reflected in his play – physically, he is a step above the rest of the back four, and the ease at which he slotted into central defence (after a first half injury to Christian Maghoma) was admirable.
It was only when the whole defence was left horrible exposed by conceding possession in vital areas of the pitch that Everton found ways past Ogilvie, and these were mistakes that ultimately gifted the Merseysiders’ the game. The left-back could see himself pressed into first team action if either of Danny Rose or Ben Davies picked up injuries, and could be used as an emergency centre half if the first choice pairing of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen needed resting.
Whilst he will face strong competition for places from other youngsters, like the highly rated Cameron Carter-Vickers, it would not be surprising to see Ogilvie make a couple of first team appearances over the coming season.
