Marcus Edwards
There isn’t a lot that can be said about the youngster that will surprise anyone who follows the Spurs youth teams anymore. Edwards is probably the best player in the under-18 age group in the country, and looked the best player on the pitch playing an impressive five years up.
He plays predominantly on the wing, is quick, technically gifted and, despite his tiny frame – he stands at just under 5″6 – retains possession well. He also has an eye for an incisive pass, and should have had an assist in the first half against Everton, but Shayon Harrison was unable to convert a chance that Edwards had fashioned effectively out of nothing.
The 17-year-old old is Spurs’ brightest prospect in the whole academy, and could well see first team action this season, especially seeing as he has been given a squad number. Manager Mauricio Pochettino is also well aware of his ability; the Argentine called Edwards a ‘special talent’ during the contract negotiations, which have now concluded in Edwards signing his first professional contract with the Lilywhites. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
