West Ham fans aren’t too fond of their new home

They may only have played seven competitive games in their new home at the London Stadium, but as demolition work begun on the Boleyn Ground this week, the Hammers fans continued to chant, though some of the songs were not overly positive of the new stadium which once held the Olympic Games.

Unprepared, poor stewarding, no infrastructure for policing, and distance from the pitch have all been criticised, only adding to the frustration of many fans not being able to stand as they were used to at their former home at Upton Park. Issues continued on Saturday, with reports of fan violence outside the ground.

For the Irons, bosses will hope that these problems are just teething problems as the stadium, its staff and the club’s fans adapt to life in Stratford, despite the chants of fans wanting to “go home”. There are plenty of issues to be dealt with by bosses, and it remains to be seen if they are short term or long term problems.
