The Saido Berahino saga continues to rumble on
This is one of the weirdest situations in football at the moment, as Tony Pulis continues to alienate Saido Berahino, but the club refuse to sell him. His value is depreciating every day and Pulis once again embarrassed Berahino on Sunday. After asking him to warm up and get ready to come on, Pulis then decided to send on 17-year-old Jonathan Leko, which created a talking point for the media.
It was an obvious snub to Berahino, who was left sat on the steps in the dugout in his full kit. There will be headlines tomorrow saying that Berahino has been put on the naughty step by Pulis and this picture will be the perfect accompaniment to that. The striker didn’t look happy and the relationship between the two doesn’t look like it has improved during the summer. He was later sent on, but the damage had already been done by Pulis. It is extraordinary that West Brom have refused to sell him as these acts by Pulis only reduce the striker’s value further. He should be a player that is sold before the transfer deadline, but past experience tells us that that is unlikely to be the case.
