Middlesbrough already look like an established Premier League side

The Teesside club have had an unbeaten start to their first Premier League campaign since 2008/9 and have impressed in all three matches. They are defensively well organised and have conceded few clear-cut chances, taking the solid foundations from last season into the top flight. Aitor Karanka has done excellent business in the transfer market, identifying players that are able to come in and make an immediate impact. Antonio Barragan has looked superb, while Alvaro Negredo gives the side a focal point that suits their style of play.

The excellent team spirit and winning mentality has been carried into this season, which is a positive for the club. Every player is contributing to the cause and that makes them a tough side to beat. They have had to face three established Premier League sides and haven’t looked in danger of losing any of the matches. The one disappointment of Sunday was that their creative players weren’t on form and as a result, they couldn’t take the three points. However, they have had an encouraging start to the season and should take a lot of confidence into the international break.
