Spurs could be the challenge that City should fear

As has become common in recent years whenever a side enjoys a great start to the season, there had been those who had suggested that Pep Guadiola’s Manchester City side could go the whole season unbeaten and replicate the success of the Invincible Arsenal side in 2003-04, but that dream came crashing down at White Hart Lane.

Pep Guardiola was beaten tactically by his counterpart Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs continued their fine run of form themselves which has seen them enjoy their best start to the season since 1960. Now having proved themselves against quality opposition, Spurs know that they can challenge the Manchester side in a title race.

Spurs went close last season, pushing Leicester City to the final weeks of the season before falling away at the final hurdle, but if they can maintain such good form this season they may be able to go one further, despite the strength and quality of Guardiola’s star studded Manchester City side.
