Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy continue to disappoint
For two players who tore the Premier League apart last season, it will be a surprise to hear that neither even managed to get a shot off at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon. Mahrez has struggled to replicate his form of last season in the Premier League, although he has shone in the Champions League, whilst Vardy remains without a goal since defeat at Liverpool in early September.
Vardy did manage to claim an assist for Ahmed Musa’s goal, and the goal itself shows how the Foxes have improved to no longer rely on their two star men. With Ahmed Musa and Islam Slimani on form so far this campaign, the reliance no longer exists and there is a much more rounded team performance coming from Ranieri’s team.
That said, the qualities of Mahrez and Vardy have been missed. Currently in the bottom half of the table, the team were crying out for one of the moments of magic that Mahrez in particular produced time and time again last campaign to help them get the three points in London.
