Three things we learnt from Tottenham’s draw with Leicester

Leicester can still compete with the big boys

Following on from defeats to Manchester United, twice, Chelsea, twice, and Liverpool, Leicester have struggled to mount any kind of title challenge in the opening few months of the season as they have returned to midtable mediocrity under Claudio Ranieri. Thrashed in most of those games against the league’s “big” clubs, there were reasons to be fearful heading to White Hart Lane.

However, Ranieri’s men produced the kind of performance that we became accustomed to seeing last campaign, and as they produced up against Arsenal at the King Power Stadium earlier this season. Defensively solid, a controversial penalty aside, Leicester did not look likely to concede for much of the game.

Their sharp counter attack allowed Ahmed Musa to give the Foxes an equaliser in exactly the same kind of move that was on display week after week as they raced away to the title. Whilst they haven’t had the best start, Saturday showed that Leicester are not giving up on retaining a place in Europe just yet.
