Middlesbrough should have enough to stay out of trouble
Despite being well and truly dragged into the midst of a relegation battle as they now only sit a single point above the drop zone, Middlesbrough showed enough character today to stay up.

Although they were dominated throughout and struggled to get out of their own half – they didn’t register a shot on target during the 90 minutes – they defended for their Premier League lives and this should stand them in good stead ahead of a frantic run-in.
Ben Gibson was outstanding at the back, and led by example for the rest of his defence to follow; Boro’s efforts were summed up when Fabio, arguably the smallest player on the pitch, desperately ran and outjumped Harry Kane in a critical position.
Obviously, the result wasn’t what Aitor Karanka would have wanted, but there was enough determination and heart shown in their dogged performance to give them hope of survival this season.
