Three things we learnt from Tottenham’s 4-0 thrashing of Stoke City

Kane ends goal drought

Tottenham youngster Harry Kane is familiar to a slow start to the season after taking several weeks to get off the mark in 2015/16, and despite still being below his best at Stoke during his team’s Potteries walkover, his finish will have provided relief after ending a five game goal-less run in the league, and his first goal since his strike at the Etihad in England’s 2-1 friendly triumph over Turkey prior to Euro 2016.

His finish also made him the fastest player to reach 50 goals for the White Hart Lane club, and the fourth player to do so overall to place him in the same breadth as Teddy Sheringham, Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane.

He was clinical with the chances he did have, scoring from his only shot on target with a mere three touches in the Stoke penalty area all game. Sometimes as a forward it is a matter of luck, but his persistence in getting into the right areas to pose a threat on goal finally paid dividends and Pochettino will be hoping that like last season, the goal will be all Kane needs to go on another scoring run.
