Heung Min Son Is A Pleasant Surprise
In the final weeks of the transfer window, it looked as if Son was on his way out of Spurs after only one season at the club. The South Korean was very much a back-up option last term as Eriksen and Lamela nailed down starting spots on the flanks. They are likely to return, but Son’s form is one the season’s pleasant surprises.
The majority of Spurs’ attacks were directed down the left where he was stationed, and he showed quick feet to beat his man on numerous occasions. The former Bayer Leverkusen player could have made better decisions at times, and has a tendency to shoot from all angles. However, he did enough to earn the man of the match award and with injuries and European football beginning to bite, Spurs will need to use all of their squad.
Son demonstrated today that Pochettino should have no qualms about picking him.
