Scott Hogan could fire Brentford to a play-off position
It was a difficult day for the Bees as they came up against a side with more quality across the pitch, but there were a few positives for Dean Smith to take from the match. His side refused to give up after falling to a three goal deficit and had chances to get back into the match at St James’ Park. That never-say-die attitude will hold them in good stead for the rest of the season.
Their striker, Scott Hogan, has started the season in fantastic form and is among the top scorers in the division. His goal showed his excellent awareness and was calmly taken to get Brentford back into the match. He wasn’t given much service on Saturday, but he managed to take the one great chance that came his way and that displays his impressive mentality. The striker will be pivotal to the Bees’ play-off hopes.
