Sunderland need to bring more players in before the end of the month
Sunderland have had a difficult summer with Sam Allardyce leaving to take the England manager’s job. David Moyes was appointed late into the pre-season and has yet to fully settle in at the club. He is still getting to know his players and it is clear that he isn’t sure of what is his best team. Towards the end of last season, they finally found a centre back paring that worked in Younes Kaboul and Lamine Kone. However, the former has now left for Watford and the latter is unsettled. They need to replace those and strengthen in other areas.
On Sunday, they started with an inexperienced side, with Donald Love, Lynden Gooch and Duncan Watmore all in the starting eleven. All three are talented, but they aren’t ready to be regular starters in the Premier League. David Moyes clearly doesn’t fancy some of the more experienced players at the club, like Wahbi Khazri and Jeremain Lens. The club need to back him and go into the transfer market to add players that fit into what Moyes is trying to build at the club. At the moment, they look to be entering into another relegation battle.
