Mourinho’s side building momentum at the right time

After three consecutive Premier League draws stalled the winning feeling at Old Trafford after seven wins in a row, United finally got three points under their belt with a comfortable performance.

Although the statistics now show that Mourinho’s side are 15 unbeaten in the league, returning to winning ways will renew a sense of momentum for United and give them renewed desire to reach the all-important Champions League spots.

With rivals Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool all losing at least once in their last five league matches, United have failed to take advantage of slip-ups and remained in sixth; yet after Arsenal and Liverpool lost on Saturday, it was a case of fourth time lucky for the Reds as they finally capitalised.

With only a point between themselves and the top five, and only one more to the top four, United are within touching distance of their goals – and it would be hard to bet against them making them.
