January signing Zarate the bright spark for Watford
Although the visitors never truly posed a threat to the Manchester United goal throughout their trip to Old Trafford on Saturday, one player, in particular, showed signs of promise.
Mauro Zarate, Watford’s January signing from Italian side Fiorentina, made his second appearance since arriving at Vicarage Road and certainly showed signs that he can compete in the Premier League.
The 29-year-old looked exciting at times, driving most of Watford’s attacking impetus and nearly grabbing a superb equaliser if it wasn’t for David de Gea’s one-handed save.
Zarate also created two chances at Old Trafford, taking on – and beating – his man four times; it seems that the Argentinian could be a vital player for Watford over the next few months.
