Manchester United are slowly getting their fear factor back

It was inevitable that Manchester United would return to the top of the English game at some point and they are slowly making their way there under Jose Mourinho. They were the better team on Sunday, playing some excellent attacking football, but they were frustrated by some poor final balls and some excellent goalkeeping. Despite Liverpool leading for a large portion of the game, it seemed likely that Manchester United would get back into the game. They came from behind against Middlesbrough and they did so again against Liverpool, albeit to only earn a point. This was a common theme under Sir Alex Ferguson and Mourinho is now delivering similar results.

They may be in 6th position, but they are playing some of the best football in the league at the moment and they will feel extremely confident about their chances of finishing in the top four. Arsenal are inconsistent, while Manchester City are non-existent at the back. On current form, Jose Mourinho will believe that his side should finish above both. This was a transitional year for the club and a top four finish would represent a successful season. However, if they continue to progress like they have done over the last few months, a title challenge will become a real possibility next season.
