Klopp will always make Liverpool competitive – regardless of which players are available

Jurgen Klopp has previously said that he only needs eleven players and he will make them competitive. He is certainly proving himself as an elite coach at Liverpool as his side are always difficult to play against. On Sunday, he was missing key defensive players in Nathaniel Clyne and Joel Matip, while Sadio Mane was also unavailable. Manchester United were overwhelming favourites when the team-sheets were released, but Liverpool worked hard and led for a large period of the game.

He isn’t afraid to turn to young players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold as he did at Old Trafford. Although the full back struggled at times, he played relatively well and was by no means the worst player on the pitch. Liverpool were difficult to break down and posed a huge threat on the break, especially in the second half. It was a performance that showed Liverpool’s strength in depth and the quality of Klopp’s coaching. The Reds can be confident of consolidating their position in the top four if they continue to show this level of commitment.
