Three things we learnt from Manchester City's draw with Everton
Manchester City squandered the chance to bounce back from their first defeat of the season, as they were held 1-1 by Everton at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola would have wanted a reaction from his players in response to losing their 100% record.
In defence of The Citizens, they did dominate for large spells against Everton, but couldn’t break down a Maarten Stekelenburg inspired Toffee side. City missed two penalties (although ‘miss’ does a disservice to Stekelenburg who saved from De Bruyne and Aguero) and had super substitute Nolito to thank for cancelling out Lukaku’s earlier goal with his first touch.
Manchester City appear to be ever so slightly wobbling, after an imperious start, under Pep Guardiola, whilst Everton on the other hand continue to go about their business in a solid manner.
