Bournemouth continue to roll over against the big sides
When Bournemouth first came up to the Premier League, they were expected to be the league’s whipping boys. That wasn’t the case and they proved the doubters wrong, never more so than in back to back victories over Chelsea and Manchester United, two of the biggest clubs in the league.
Since then, things have changed. Up against the so-called ‘big six’ of Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham, they have since played nine fixtures, suffering defeat in them all, conceding an average of three goals per game in the process, scoring on just four occasions.
This tendency to roll over under pressure will concern Eddie Howe as his side seek to pick up some form of consistency. Prior to the trip to the Etihad, the Cherries had gone two consecutive games unbeaten for the first time since March, but were unable to resist the power and might of Guardiola’s side. Whilst that is to be expected, the manner in which Howe’s side rolled over with ease will concern the boss.
