Crystal Palace
Three things we learnt from Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace
Yaya Toure Can Still Play A Role (If He Sacks His Agent)
As evidenced by the vocal support coming from the away section yesterday, Toure clearly has the respect of City’s fans and the Ivorian will always be remembered as a club legend. There have been signs of a thawing of relations between himself and Guardiola, but his agent Dimitri Seluk still stands between them. Seluk has refused to apologise to the former Barcelona manager, which has led to Toure’s exile from the team. It is unlikely that Toure will become a regular starter under Guardiola; he doesn’t have the desire or ability to press and harry opponents and put in a disciplined defensive shift. However, if City are searching for a goal an Guardiola wants a different option from the bench he could be very useful. No tiring defence will want to see a player of Toure’s stature and class entering the fray to torment them.
