Palace have acquired a reputation for giving the league’s biggest teams a punch on the nose, due in no small part to their memorable 3-3 draw with Liverpool in 2014. The reality however, is that their record at Selhurst Park is remarkably poor. The Eagles have won just one of six home league games this term, only six games at home during the entirety of last season. Simply put, Selhurst Park is not quite the tricky visit that popular opinion would have you believe. This could well be a tactical or stylistic problem for Palace. Their main strength is their pace and trickery in wide areas, and these attributes can be more potent away from home when the opposition leave more space. The very fact that Selhurst Park has a stern reputation also means opponents are likely to treat Palace with respect and defend diligently, which could be an ironic factor behind their poor home form.
