Leroy Sane is exciting – but his end product needs work
Despite having only one full season in the Schalke first team, Manchester City opted to pay an initial fee of £37 million for Leroy Sane and it is easy to see why. He is an excellent dribbler and capable of beating players with a combination of skill, pace and strength. It has taken a while for him to break into the first eleven at the club, but he is now an integral part of the new-look side and he was exciting to watch once again on Monday night. He completed three dribbles and two key passes during the match, while it was his deflected ball that led to the opening goal.
However, he remains a little raw in the final third and he needs to improve the consistency of his end product. He had several opportunities to make an impact in the final third and he disappointed somewhat. The German had a great chance in the closing minutes of the game and failed to score, while he also hit the woodwork earlier in the half. That said, he worked hard and completed two ball retrievals. He will be an important part of the Guardiola era at Manchester City, but he has some way to go until he fulfils his potential.
