Bournemouth need to start looking behind them
The Cherries have taken only five points from their last nine matches and they are sliding down the table. There remains a six-point gap between Eddie Howe’s men and the relegation zone, but there is always one side that slips into the fight at the bottom of the league and it could be Bournemouth this season. Their next two Premier League matches are trips to West Brom and Manchester United. It is completely feasible that they could take no points from those two matches and they will fall even closer to the bottom three if that is the case. Of course, nothing is simple in the Premier League, but there will be growing concerns among supporters.
There were bright spots to their performance this evening and it was always going to be a difficult task for them to take something from the game, but they desperately need to start picking up some more points to ease concerns. Howe will be pleased that his defence was much better than it was against Everton, but there are still some individual errors. It is exciting to see the style of play that has been implemented at Bournemouth, but given the lack of confidence that currently exists, it could prove to be their downfall if they are dragged back into the relegation fight. The next few matches will define the club’s season.
