Divock Origi can do what Daniel Sturridge has struggled to do

Daniel Sturridge is yet to get off the mark in the Premier League, but a slight calf strain meant that he was left out today and it was Divock Origi who stepped in to replace the injured Phillipe Coutinho in the first half.

The Belgian youngster has struggled for game time but broke the deadlock with a finesse shot, taking a step to find the space before curling the ball past a helpless Jordan Pickford as the Sunderland defence let the ball run through.

After 75 minutes of stalemate, Liverpool fans were growing frustrated and it looked as though the Reds may not find a way through, so Origi’s strike really could not have come at a better time. He really staked his claim for a starting spot if Coutinho’s injury is as bad as feared.
