Three things we learnt from Liverpool’s thrilling 4-3 victory at Arsenal

2) Alberto Moreno still isn’t very good

The Spaniard conceded a penalty, then two minutes later gifted Theo Walcott all the space in the world to give Arsenal the lead. The Reds have spent much of the summer chasing left-backs, with the likes of Ben Chilwell and Hector Jonas linked, but no deal has come to fruition and Moreno started at the Emirates for Jurgen Klopp, but only due to James Milner missing out through injury.

Liverpool’s attack was superb, Mané, Coutinho and Firmino all impressing, but their work will be wasted if their defence can’t keep things tight at the back, and Moreno’s poor positioning which ended up giving Arsenal a first half lead could have proved costly had the attacking trio not been on form in the second half.

Moreno is fortunate, with a move for a left back unlikely in this window and an out of position James Milner his best competition, he has a chance to prove himself, but he will have to improve on his display this weekend if he is to maintain a starting role at Anfield going forwards.
